Academic Mission
The Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies at the Islamic University in Uganda offers a comprehensive interdisciplinary curriculum designed to equip students with a critical understanding of global and local development challenges. This program explores theoretical frameworks and practical approaches to poverty reduction, sustainable development, social justice, and economic growth. Students will engage with topics such as development economics, political economy of development, gender and development, and environmental sustainability. Through coursework and potential field experiences, students cultivate analytical skills to assess development interventions and contribute to policy formulation. Graduates are prepared for careers in international development organizations, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and research institutions, or to pursue further academic study in related fields. Key skills developed include critical thinking, research methodologies, program evaluation, and cross-cultural communication.
