Academic Mission

The Bachelor of Education in Special Needs Education program at Kampala International University is designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively teach and support learners with diverse educational needs. This comprehensive program explores various exceptionalities, including learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and giftedness, alongside pedagogical approaches and assistive technologies. Students will engage in coursework focused on child development, curriculum adaptation, inclusive classroom management, and ethical considerations in special education. The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based practices and fosters a deep understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborative service delivery models. Graduates will be prepared for roles such as special education teachers, inclusion specialists, educational therapists, and policy advisors within educational institutions and non-governmental organizations. Key skills developed include assessment, intervention planning, differentiated instruction, and advocacy for students with special needs.
