Academic Mission
The Bachelor of Adult and Community Education program at Makerere University is designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to facilitate lifelong learning and community development initiatives. This undergraduate program focuses on understanding adult learning principles, program design and evaluation, community needs assessment, and participatory methodologies. Students will explore diverse approaches to adult education, including literacy programs, vocational training, and civic engagement. The curriculum emphasizes critical analysis of educational policies and their impact on marginalized communities. Graduates will be prepared for careers in non-governmental organizations, government ministries, community-based organizations, and adult learning centers.
