There are two categories of computer security systems; Physical security Data security Physical security access control measures must be put in place in the computer lab; Use physical access controls such as locked doors and windows. Install alarm systems to warn you in case of any intrusion Use passwords, and biometric devices. Install surveillance cameras to help you in easy monitoring of the hardware Putting up strong burglar poof doors and windows to avoid thieves Ensure that fire extinguisher is fixed in the computer lab in case of any emergency fire outbreak Control measures to protect data in the computer lab; Keep a copy of your data off site in case of any firebreak. Make regular backups of critical data. Protect data files by using password mechanism Use data masking. Data masking is the process of obscuring a specific data within a database table to ensure that data is maintain and sensitive information is not exposed to unauthorized user. Install reliable antivirus programs on your computer system and update it regularly. Use encryption mechanism. Encryption is the process of transforming plain text or data into cipher (unreadable) text that cannot be read by anyone other than the sender and the receiver. It is a process of covering readable data into unreadable characters to prevent unauthorized access. Install a firewall-The key defense against Internet attackers is an Internet firewall. Malware Malware is software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner's informed consent.
