Academic Mission
The Bachelor of Social Work program at Uganda Martyrs University equips students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to address complex social issues and promote human well-being. This undergraduate program emphasizes a strengths-based, person-in-environment perspective, preparing graduates to engage effectively with individuals, families, communities, and organizations. Coursework covers foundational social work principles, human behavior, social policy analysis, research methods, and ethical practice. Students gain hands-on experience through supervised field placements, allowing them to apply learned concepts in real-world settings. Graduates are prepared for careers in areas such as child welfare, mental health services, community development, and policy advocacy. Key skills developed include critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and advocacy.
