Academic Mission
The Bachelor of Early Childhood Care and Education program at Makerere University provides a comprehensive foundation in the theory and practice of educating young children. Students will explore child development, curriculum design, pedagogical approaches, and the social-emotional needs of children from birth to eight years of age. This program emphasizes a play-based learning philosophy and fosters critical thinking skills necessary for effective early childhood educators. Graduates will be equipped to work in diverse settings, including preschools, kindergartens, and childcare centers, or pursue further studies in educational leadership and policy.
