Academic Mission
The Bachelor of Youth Development Work program at Makerere University equips students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively engage with and support young people. This undergraduate program focuses on understanding the complex social, psychological, and economic factors influencing youth development. Students will explore principles of youth empowerment, program design and evaluation, and ethical practice in youth-serving organizations. The curriculum emphasizes critical analysis of youth issues and the development of evidence-based interventions. Graduates will be prepared for careers in non-governmental organizations, government agencies, community development initiatives, and educational institutions, fostering positive youth outcomes. Key skills developed include communication, advocacy, program management, and community mobilization.
