Your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) & California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA)
What does "selling or sharing" mean?
Under CCPA/CPRA, "selling or sharing" includes disclosing your personal information — such as your IP address, browsing behaviour, and device identifiers — to third-party advertising networks (like Google AdSense) so they can serve you personalised ads. You have the right to opt out of this at any time.
What information is involved?
- IP address and approximate geolocation
- Browser type, device type, and operating system
- Pages visited and time spent on StudyUganda
- Advertising identifiers used to serve interest-based ads
Who receives this data?
We use Google AdSense to serve advertisements. Google may use the above data to personalise ads. You can review Google's data practices at policies.google.com/privacy.
Exercise Your Right
Clicking "Opt Out" will instruct StudyUganda to stop sharing your data with advertising partners and will disable personalised ads for you. This preference is stored in your browser.
You can also opt out globally via Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out or Network Advertising Initiative opt-out.
Other Privacy Rights
As a California resident you also have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and how it is used.
- Delete personal information we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information.
- Non-discrimination — we will never treat you differently for exercising your rights.
