Introduction

Secondary 3 (S3) is the year of specialization. After two years of studying 12 subjects, students now choose 8-9 subjects that align with their career aspirations [1][2]. This is one of the most important decisions in a Ugandan student’s academic life.

“The subject combination you choose in S3 determines your A-level options and, ultimately, your university program. Choose wisely with proper career guidance.” – NCDC Manager, Secondary Department [3]

Our S3 Resource Center supports all subject combinations.

  4. A-Level Implications: Ensure your combination opens desired A-level doors

Common Mistakes [3]

  • Peer Pressure: “My friend chose PCB, so I will too” – wrong approach
  • Ignoring Career Guidance: Consult teachers and counselors
  • Short-term Thinking: Don’t just choose “easy” subjects; think long-term
