Introduction

Welcome to secondary school! The transition from Primary 7 to Senior 1 (S1) is one of the biggest leaps in a Ugandan student’s academic journey. The shift from a four-subject PLE system to 11 compulsory subjects plus 1 elective can be overwhelming [1][2].
